In terms of art now you can, or at least temporarily this weekend, with 48 hours Neukölln. Aimed as much as getting the local community to interact with their local art spaces (and each other) as encouraging people to engage with art, this festival’s theme will be Courage. Check the festival’s website for information on all events, performances, parties, venues and how to find all of this edition’s 250 participating art works.

Until 13th July 2014

In contrast to the common western notion that China is somewhat a ‘monolithic state apparatus’ (hello Ai WeiWei) comes the current show ‚The 8 of Paths’.  A group show by 23 artists living and working in Beijing, the exhibition focuses on China’s emerging perceptions of individuality and how this plays a part in Beijing’s contemporary art scene.

Vernissage / ‘Group Spirit’ at Peres Projects

Friday 28th June – 6pm

Try as we might, we cannot completely distance ourselves from the affects of the society we live in. Whether visible or not, it leaves its mark on our thoughts and actions, moulding our perceptions. These basic principles are just part of the ideas being explored in the upcoming group show ‘Group Spirit’ at Peres Projects, consisting of a mixture of known contemporary artists and unidentified African artists from Bassa, Gola and Mende – people of what is present day Liberia and Sierra Leone.
