Lecture & Screening / Vis-à-vis

Thursday 29th August – 6pm

Video – where would we be without it? Artist archive berlinerpool explore this notion and what it means for archiving with their lecture series and curated screening program starting this week. Thursday’s event will feature a lecture on archiving in the networked world and how this shapes knowledge, followed by a screening of art film “A protest against forgetting.”

Boat Opera / Nospreenovela

Thursday 29th August – 8pm

Opera in unexpected places seems to be the new zeitgeist in Berlin. No sooner have we had Kiez Oper presenting operas from a disused swimming pool and in an open-air, pagan themed setting, we have Wolfsbühne performing Nospreenovela on the spree. The performance will take place on boats on the river with spectators sitting along the bank, and be accompanied by a dance performance.

Ratiborstrasse/ Paul -Linke Ufer // Berlin  / no entry, but donation is very welcome!

Art Happening in Nature / Count down to Grabowsee 2013

Friday 30th August – 6pm

If you’re feeling adventurous this event is a great alternative to the usual evening of openings. Based in an old hospital in Grabowsee a group of international artists are transforming the area into an exhibiting gallery, an artistic wonderland. The end of the project culminates in a free art festival between August 30th and September 1st which will include performances, workshops and site specific installations. Free camping is available.

Music Festival / Torstraßen Festival

Saturday 31st August

Now in its third year, Torstraßen Festival returns to Mitte for a musical matinee showcase surrounding Torstrasse. Providing an alternative to large corporate festivals with big headliner acts, a myriad of performers will take to a variety of venues to show the best Berlin has to offer in terms of new music.
