Film Screening & Talk / Nan Goldin: Im Augenblick

Friday 6th September – 7pm

Nan Goldin is one of the most iconic photographers of our generation. Join Berlin film maker Sabine Lidl as she follows Goldin for three years during the nineties in her documentary ‚Portrait of Nan Goldin‘ – three years the artist claims were the best of her life. A Q&A with Goldin herself will follow the screening and admission is free but there is no booking, so make sure you arrive early to avoid disappointment – and what a disappointment it would be.

Vernissage / Fuck Fest

Friday 6th September – 8pm

Everyone’s heard the phrase ‚at it like rabbits‘, but how many of us have actually seen bunnies, well, ‚at it‘? This Friday will see Retramp’s first exhibition following their summer break with the exhibition ‚Fuck Fest‚ by Hannah Nelson-Tuetsch. The upcoming American artist will take a candid look (complete with live bunnies) at the way we view sex in our hyper-sexualised culture, where watching has become almost as desirable as doing.

Vernissage & Artist Talk / Ulay (ex partner of Marina Abramovic) / Salon Dahlmann

Saturday 7th September – 5pm

After much recent excitement in the media surrounding his former partner Marina Abramovic, Uwe Laysiepen, aka Ulay, is returning to the spotlight with a solo show in Berlin. ‚Ich bin Ich: Ulay on Ulay‘ will present a body of work spanning several key decades of development and attempt to depict the inextricable link between Ulay’s colourful life and work. Ulay will be present and deliver a talk at 5pm on the opening night of the exhibition.

Group Show / Kitchen Girls / Kreuzberg Pavillon

Saturday 7th September – 8pm

Gone are the days when a woman is supposedly chained to the kitchen sink, and in this upcoming show at Kreuzberg Pavillon entitled ‚Kitchen Girls‘ the scheduled performances could not be further removed. Made up of an international group of seven artists, the show will include photography, collage, painting and installations. If the last Superuschi event I attended  is anything to go by (involving a naked man in a transparent poncho and lots of crowd interaction) then I can’t wait.

Pre Opening / Art , Temporary spaces & Centrification / Lehrter Siebzehn

Saturday 7th September – 8pm

The gentrification discussion in Berlin is an ongoing and prominent one. As increasing numbers of young, creative people (amongst others) flood the city, rent prices are rising and the constant quiet grumbling about ausländers becomes louder and louder. It’s not all bad though, as a result the art scene is continuing to diversify and flourish, this exhibition examining the relationship between art, temporary spaces and gentrification. Organised by Johanna Wallenborn and Stefanie Greimel, Pre-Opening will present an open talk with Marcello Dato from Platoon and Bettina Springer, the founder and gallery owner of betweenyouandme on the topic as well as light, digital and sound installations; marking the beginning of the new art space Lehrter Siebzehn.
