TOP 5 EVENTS FOR YOUR BERLIN ART WEEKEND

Berlin’s top art events (23rd-25th July 2015): Kleine Humboldt Galerie, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Spike Berlin, Glogauair Berlin, and Art Spin Berlin

Screening / Kleine Humboldt Galerie

Thursday 23rd July — 7pm

Settle in for another hot Berlin art weekend with a night of cool, sweet, screening stimulation at the Kleine Humboldt Galerie. Retooling found footage from Turkish erotica that managed to make its way past the censors of the 1980s, Zeynep Tuna constructs a new vision of melodrama, corporeality, and the stories we tell about sexuality — perfect fodder for a hot Friday night.

Kleine Humboldt Galerie // Unter den Linden 6, 10099 Berlin

Presentation / KW Institute for Contemporary Art

Thursday 23rd July — 8pm

KW Institute for Contemporary Art is renowned throughout Berlin for exceptional curating and aggressive, boundary-pushing exhibitions that foreground artistic risk-taking. In conjunction with the latest KW exhibition to touch down in the contested landscape of the avant-garde, Thursday night Antonia Baum and Markcus Staiger will be discussing the social construction of violence as well as the development and production of their own work on the subject in an artist talk guaranteed to stimulate the mind and activate the aesthetic experience of the exhibition (in German only).

KW Institute for Contemporary Art // Auguststraße 69, 10117 Berlin

Discussion / Spike Berlin

Friday 24th July — 7pm

Explore the intersection of art, theatre, performance, and audience with a unique roundtable discussion featuring Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Matthias Lilienthal, and Tino Sehgal. Plumb the conceptual depths of routine, spontaneity, ritual, and potential while availing yourself of the opportunity to listen, learn and contribute to the  ongoing conversation.

Spike Berlin // Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 45, 10178 Berlin

Performance / Glogauair Berlin

Friday 24th July — 3pm until 9pm

Drawing from the disparate fields of minimalism and body art, Kuldeep Gohel has created a work of supreme synthesis in Disabled. Rooted in questions about the place of technology in consciousness and society, Disabled probes the past and the future in a theatrical struggle for control over the present.

Glogauair Berlin // Glogauer Straße 16, 10999 Berlin

Interactive Tour / Art Spin Berlin

Friday 24th July — 6pm

Inject a little something interactive into your Berlin art weekend with a bicycle tour that guides you through creative venues, art performances, and site-specific installations in style. After the popularity of last year’s Art Spin Berlin, this year promises culture and community as well as quite a crowd, so be sure to show up early and secure yourself a spot.
