Exhibition is on from Friday 21st

This Friday sees art heavyweight Berlinische Galerie open its doors for the opening of German photographer Tobias Zielony’s exhibition ‚Jenny‘. and will present two projects concentrating on youths found marginalised on the edge of Western society. Also currently exhibited at the space are the paintings, collages and staged objects of German painter Henning Bohls

Video Art at Midnight

Friday 21st June, Midnight 

Midnight on a Friday – where are you? Queuing for a club, having a relaxed drink at a bar, dancing at an open air party or enjoying some video art? If you prefer the latter option we have the perfect event for you. Hosted every month at the beautiful Babylon theatre in Mitte, Video Art at Midnight showcases the best of contemporary video art, this week that of German artist Martin Brand, who will also be present at the screening.

Berlin Art Prize

Saturday 22nd June, 6pm

Forget the Turner Prize, this year marks the beginning of the Berlin Art Prize. Open to all artists living in Berlin for a minimum of six months, the shortlist has been compiled and the winners will be announced at an award ceremony on Saturday 22nd June. There are three categories to compete in (Best Composition, Best Concept and Jury’s Choice), the winners receiving a group exhibition, prize money, a residency in Italy and most importantly, of course, the envy of the rest of the Berlin art world.

Agora Collects

Friday 21st June, 7pm  

This weekend Neukölln based creative network Agora will host a three day interactive event, Agora Collects. Featuring a whole host of international artists and more events than you can shake a stick at (check their programme here) there will be concerts, performances and talks on the main themes of art, entrepreneurship, technology and food. While you’re there make sure you don’t miss the Give Something Back To Berlin initiative launch, which will be held at the same venue.
