TOP 5 OPENINGS FOR YOUR BERLIN ART WEEKEND

Berlin’s top art events (5th-7th November 2015): District Berlin, NOME, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, C/O Berlin, and SFE Berlin

Performance / District Berlin

Friday 6th November – 7:30pm

As the days grow shorter and the temperatures drop, take comfort in the warmth and wonder of Anaïs Héraud and Till Bauman’s performance exploring the idea of the Ritournelle — a repetitive phrase often found in children’s songs, chorals, advertisements and political slogans. Investigation and experience blend with sublime harmony in this unique and compelling series.

District Berlin // Bessemerstraß3 2-14, 12103 Berlin

Vernissage / NOME

Friday 6th November – 6pm

Matthew Plummer-Fernandez’s Hard Copy harnesses the power of 3D printing in the service of sculpture to conjure up a special sort of magic. Challenging entrenched notions of artistic production, Plummer-Fernandez draws upon open-source models of popular cartoon characters as the source material for a series both formally fresh and conceptually fierce.

NOME // Dolziger Straße 31, 10247 Berlin

Conference / Haus der Kulturen der Welt

Saturday 7th November – 10am until 4pm

Explore your academic side with a conference dedicated to re-thinking artistic production in the early decades of the twentieth century from a transnational perspective. Global Modernisms probes beyond the notion of Modernism as a western phenomenon to establish the vitality and significance of local and international movements in art, technology, and design throughout Asia, Africa and the transregional networks linking the Global North and South.

Haus der Kulturen der Welt // John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10, 10557 Berlin

Vernissage / C/O Berlin

Saturday 7th November – 7pm

Don’t miss the opportunity to steal a little pinch of stardust for yourself this Saturday night.
