Top 5 Openings of the week

Tips for your art weekend in Berlin (Oct 9th – 12th 2014): Our Top 5 Openings and exhibitions at Schinkel Pavillon, me collectors room, Urban Spree, HAU. Enjoy!

Vernissage / Fragile Sense Of Hope at me collectors room

Thursday 9th October – 7pm

This week the Olbricht collection will present ‚Fragile Sense of Hope‘ – a contemporary art collection by Deutsche Telekom which will be shown at me Collectors Room Berlin. Consisting of around 70 works by 20 different artists, the collection will focus on the diverse art scenes of Eastern and South Eastern Europe since the fall of the iron curtain – an act which completely transformed the lives of thousands virtually overnight.

Art prize / Artisti per Frescobaldi at Schinkel Pavillon

Friday 10th October – 11am until 6pm

Don’t miss the German premiere of this year’s ‚Artisti per Frescobaldi‘ art prize, an award aimed mainly at artists who work in the visual arts field, which is presented by Italian nobleman Tiziana Frescobaldi. This year’s competitors consisted of German artists Michael Sailstorfer and Jorinde Voigt, as well as Italian artist Yuri Ancarani. The criteria for this year’s competition was that the artists should be influenced by Castello di Nipozzano, a winery located near the hills of Florence. The exhibition will reveal the fruits of their labour and be presented for a very limited time – until Sunday, 10th October – at Schinkel Pavillion.

Performance / ‚Something For The Fans‘ at HAU

Saturday 11th October – 8pm

Given the disastrous nature of HAU’s last performance piece, (‚Wanna Play?‘ by Dries Verhoeven, one of Berlin’s biggest art debacles of the year) the name of this upcoming performance is perhaps a little ironic. Focussing on the use of everyday objects to help find a connection between sound and memory, performance artist Damian Rebgetz will take you on a journey through different continents and time zones with his (hopefully) carefully crafted performance.
